Resolved Question

Does the Bible ever mention that there is life outside Earth, extraterrestrial life?

And what is the official position of Christianity ( or other major religion) about the matter?

The Bible seems to be a book that focus on God's work on mankind and all that was created was meant for human beings... so believing in the possibility of extraterrestrial life is something that goes against Bible teachings or not?

I would assume that a detail like that -- life outside Earth - would not be left out if it was really true. (And, as far as we know, this kind of life has not be proven yet ).

Many things that did not proven still but it did not mean that they did not exist , but we can say that science still is not so developed to prove or to find out the existence of life on other planets outside earth.. i did not know about all religions but i read in Quran and in Bible too the following verses which give us some insight about other worlds except our ... but it need a deep understanding and knowledge of both quran and Bible to search out the answers of such complex and difficult questions...

"Among His (God's) signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures that He has scattered through them :and He has power to gather them together when He wills."In Sura 42,Verse 29 (42:29) (Quran)

"I saw a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great. The tree grew, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth." - Daniel 4:10-11 (Bible)

In 7th August 1996,NASA scientists made an announcement that made front page headlines throughout the world.Within a Martian meteorite, they had found evidence of a microscopic lifeform that may have existed on Mars more than three billion years ago.

The existence of creatures of a spiritual nature, such as angels,in the universe,is accepted as a fact by all Muslims and Christians and many other religions of world..

People who have been taught that the Bible is literally true will undoubtedly not like what I'm about to say, but that's just too bad.

It is the apex of vanity and beyond ridiculous to think that the Earth is the center stage of the universe. It's probably beyond ludicrous, it might even be plaid. The Earth isn't even the center of our solar system, much less the universe (remember the trial of Galileo vs the church). Such limited thinking...I urge any religious person who believes such things to please study astronomy or watch the "Pale Blue Dot" video on my blog.

The discovery of life outside the Earth would invalidate religion even more. Given the size and age of the universe I have no doubt that there is a lot of life out there, but I think the distances between these pockets of life are too great for them to stumble upon each other. I wrote about this very subject here:

I think you pretty much answered your own question. The Bible is meant as a guidebook for humans on how to live with humans. God certainly was aware that humans would question their own existence, the meaning of life and whether or not they were alone in the cosmos. Gods teaching are not threatened the least by mans fasination with the wonders of the universe - in many cases they are re-enforced by it.

actually yes, in the Quran, it discusses the expansion of universe theory, and talks about how there are different 'worlds' other than earth. That there are other creatures as well.
Also, as Einstein discussed later on, the Quran mentions that there are various dimensions in this universe....that we are actually living in the same space and time as other beings.
take care.

Angels are mentioned. Clearly they qualify as "extraterrestrial life".

The Scriptures do not directly address the question of alien beings. The Bible does not explicitly confirm or deny the existence of intelligent life from other planets. Although the subject is not addressed explicitly, the Bible teaches implicitly that the only things He created with intelligence are the angels, man, and the animals.

It is important to remember that the stars and planets were not created billions of years before Earth. According to the Bible, Earth is not the result of billions of years of stellar evolution during which many other planets were created. Earth was created before any other planet or star existed. Earth came into existence on the first day of Creation (Genesis 1:1). God withheld the creation of the Sun, Moon and stars until the fourth day (Genesis 1:14-19). Earth is unique and holds center stage in God's Creation.

Nope. Not that I've seen or read. Unless you consider life in Heaven to be outside Earth. But as far as little green men? Nope.

If you read the first chapter of Ezekial, it would sure seem that Ezekial was seeing and hearing something not of earth.

Getting in to when Jesus went to the cross that we might have life after death. If you remember Jesus hung in the middle of to other people,One was a Robber and one was a theif, while the 3 hung one said, to Jesus,If you are the son of God will you remember me when you return to heaven and Jesus replyed,I will remember you. That ment he died his soul or spirt went to be with God.Now the other man was not as lucky he did not agree Jesus was the Son of God.
To be safe in all that God has for you after death,You must believe He is the Son of God.Many people will tell you there is a Don't do list and a To do list. The only Do you need to remember is, Believe and Love once you express this to Him ,He will guide you into all truth.

Taking aside God himself and angels, the answer is no. I have recently been confronted again with the question than why build a exspanive universe. God originally designed us to live on Earth forever, we would procreat and have offspring that also would live forever. Our knowledge would have increased by leaps and bounds. We would have found our way to the stars themselves. So now you have a race of infintite beings who can populate and live in a seemingly infintite space. So I think that maybe we were suppose to be the ones who lived outside of the Earth.

Possibly it does in fact - although as you would expect it is somewhat in a metaphorical way. For example Jesus saying "I have sheep not of this fold..."

or "In my father's house there are many rooms..."

could both be taken as veiled references to this if one wanted to do so as could a lot of the imagery in the book of Ezekiel.

Not to my knowledge.

In terms of Christianity's view of life on other planets, it is simply that there may be life on other planets but that God placed man at the head of creation and made him in His Own Image. Thus man was responsible/accountable for all creatures.

God didn't just create Earth, He created the universe. I wouldn't have a problem if they found bacterial, plant or animal life on another planet for example, but don't think they will find another life with the spiritual dimension of man.
