Does 'Time' actually exist?

For all intents and purposes, time was created by mankind to measure the passage of our existence. And though many species have a sense of seasonal change and adjust behaviour accordingly, mankind is the only species which measures this change in precise increments. Thus, under these parametres, would not time simply be a tool?

Animals know exactly what "time" of year mating season is, without watches or calenders as in they have internal clocks. Sorry to have blown a huge hole in this posted theory. Time is not a tool.

Exactly. Animals don't measure time. Behaviour is innate, whether it be mating, hibernation or migration. But all these things can be attributed to aspects in the seasons in which these actions take place. It may simply be the duration of sunlight which triggers these behavioural changes. However, animals don't measure the amount of sunshine. I'm not saying you're wrong. But in reality, to the best of current knowledge, mankind is the only species which measures time.

Okay with the semantics. Just opened a monster energy drink and am having a smoke. They don't need to measure like us humans do because they have a heightened sense of their surroundings allowing them an internal clock. Humansa different ability, we don't have internal clocks so we made one. We don't have fur to brave the elements like animals so we build shelter. We can't eat raw meat like some animals so we cook it. It's our version of the same thing they do, survival. Time is not a tool, passes the ball back to you.

Time only exists in the finite world. In the infinite universe, it doesn't because it goes outside of boundaries due to space. Time is a mere measurement though, of distances, ratios, etc.

Interesting answer. However, if that's case, then why do theoretical physicists use time as the "fourth dimension" in formulating concepts revolving around the creation of the universe and the substance of space.

I assume because they can only fathom so much due to our three dimensional planet that they call it a fourth dimension since time has no shape or manifest, it merely..."is".

It is just a tool, but don't think of it as linear, from point a to point b, think of it as a high rise building, many "times" existing at once

It exists as much as distance exists... it is a measurement of the change in reality.

Time is based on our ability to perceive changes in reality. If nothing at all changes, there is nothing to register. Think of it, we could all be moving at a glacially slow pace compared to a being capable of consciousness at another dimension... like light.

yes it does. this time, and the other time that repeats itself on top of this one...and the one under that, and the others before and after that one

Time is a measurement for mankind.... Now ask, Does God live within Time..? Or, is God outside of Time...?

Sorry, you lose. This is a philosophical question about an aspect of science and it's usage in physical theories. It was not posted as a theological question. And I'm actually insulted that you would use this question to pronounce your ignorance.

NO. Time is not measurable by any physical means. Physical means are not even measured by time. Time is a theoretical term to differentiate the relative perspective from one point to another.

Time is more than just the measurement of a phenomena, it is also the name of the phenomena that is measured.

It's a mathematical construct to help define states-of-change, nothing more (well that, and cool tunes by Pink Floyd, The Alan Parsons Project, and Hootie & the Blowfish).

Well lets just say that we perceive time one way, but mathematically time is very different and the linear model that we understand doesn't hold up in many models.
