Don't people know that the purpose of the military is to kill people and break things?
All this humanitarian social work crap forced on servicemembers in addition to their usual duties needs to stop.
Go there. Kill the bad guys. Break stuff. And then get out.
That's it.
I am a veteran and a contractor in Afghanistan right now and we got soldiers basically just hanging out on the ba
And people wonder why the US is getting their *** kicked in Afghanistan...

Not at all the purpose of the military. However, if you just killed the "bad guys", there would just be more bad guys to take their place. You will never kill ALL the bad guys. EVER. So it is better to try and make peace and then keep it. And if they weren't sitting there doing nothing, then like you said, they'd be at home working a dead end job, or just adding to the unemployment. So at least they are keeping busy.

So if the government didn't send them over there, then what would all the troops be doing? Sitting at home killing people?Like (1)

Yes, but they've been brainwashed to think that pressing a button to launch a missle isn't the same as shooting someone. Also that someone repairing tanks isn't to blame for the now functional tanks killing people.
If you aren't killing people in the military directly, you're helping them kill people.
The US army used to be the biggest terrorist group in the world. Don't believe me? Look up regime change, USA, and the years 1948-2009Like (1)

You are contradicting yourself, again. How do you go out and just hang out on ba
se, with more soldiers coming in, yet you say wonder why the US is getting their *** kicked in Afghanistan. You must have been in the background watching the action. I see you have an attidute problem that need adjustment. Like (1)

The purpose of the armed forces is to "keep the peace". Not to create more war, but to prevent it. Soldiers are trained in combat skills so that they can meet force with force, if necessary, to keep the peace.

I was in the military myself... you know what i did? I fixed computer problems that a caveman can fix... then when i have nothing to do i go on facebook, take my 30 min smoke break and then go back inside. It all depends what you do. I know people who sew military uniforms and thats all they do

I strongly urge you to visit this site and watch the video there. YOu can find the same video on youtube by typing in "What on Earth will it take"
http://www.thrivemovement.com/
or on youtube...

I will admit the first 30 minutes or so are about a lame as it gets, but once you get past all of that, the case that is made in the video is mind boggling.
