Dose anyone else sometimes get surprised when your answer is picked as the best answer?

The other day I got a best answer for saying "I'm kind of confused you repeat the question?" That I thought was surprising. But I'm always surprised when any answers of mine is picked as a best answer serious or joke.

Yes and often. In fact I'm always surprised which ones get picked and which ones get ignored. I'll sometimes push post and think "oh that was good and it's certainly the best answer here so far" but then someone else gets picked and you get to be wrong. I stopped worrying about it a long time ago, now I push send and don't look back. If I happen to get a "best answer" notification I get to satisfy my curiosity "oh really! huh, i wonder which one" and then I get to open it which is always fun.

What amazes me is how often it was a question I almost didn't answer at all, or I just answered off the cuff with no serious editing. And sometimes the ones I labor over and edit exhaustively get ignored. That's always funny to me, makes me wonder why that happened. But then it makes me feel good that i made a difference, so it's all good. But when it was one I almost deleted, it stops to make me think. I always feel like I almost deleted someone else's baby. It's like "wow, that was a close one! at one point it seemed insignificant and now it seems important. I wonder what that means..." It makes you think about time, space and different dimensions.

And this encourage me to write what I consider as right, not what may make the asker feel good. So I see that most people up here really respect the freedom of speech.
