What if you washed your car with some soup, and wiped the kitchen counters with coffee? I would imagine it works the same way with our bodies...needing clean water to wash everything thru.

No real expert says that. That's a lot of freaking water to drink each day and not everyone need 64 ounces of water each day.
Also, the original study did include the water content of foods in that original figure.Like (3)

They say to include that as well........ so basically make sure the water that leaves your body when you go to the restroom is clear, when it gets yellow or dark, then its time to drink more water for the day.

I read somewhere that that statement is a myth. We get most of our water from the food we eat so we don't need to be literally drinking eight glasses of water. As long as you're eating properly and not thirsty, then you're getting enough water.

You might be alive, but your body doesn't function as well with less than it needs.Like (1)

All liquids count ... tea, coffee, beer, wine, soda, cola, all contribute to those 8, :-)

They hydrate you first, dehydrate later, but still count in the 8 glasses according to the research I readLike (1)

It's water, too much will only clean your urinary tract out.

Actually, too much water can kill you. It can over-saturate your cells and cause your kidneys to shut down.Like (1)

It's still probably in addition. Most people are actually dehydrated and don't drink as much as they should.
