I've never had anything really bad one, but this question just reminded me of the interview scene in Stepbrothers. Ha. Best ever. Pa-nnnnn :)

I hope punching the interviewer in the face isn't considered faux pas.
In an interview you are meant to show that you are great without being arrogant. This can be difficult.Like (1)

I think they might like arrogant people more than people, who have low-confidence. So next time if you have to choose between these, make the choice for arrogance, if it is difficult to be confident. ;)Like (1)

I had one experience - but I think the faux pas was from the other side. I worked in a different department and was being made redundant because our section was being tendered out to a private company. The rules said they had to consider me for any job within the Council for which I was suitable.
The job was looking after Computer security for their section. I had for the previous 10 years been a senior member of the team looking after computer security for the whole Council
The Charman's opening remark was "well, we're interviewing you because we've got to, but we don't really feel your match our requirements." I replied "well, in that case you obviously don't want me so let's not waste your time or mine" - and left.
