Here are 5 signs that may drive him / her to cheat.

    1. He or she met you when you were healthy, in shape and looking good,
but have now let your self go, gained significant weight and or simply don't dress up for him / her anymore. (shallow I know, but hey, it counts)

    2. You've become a total nag, and ***** at him / her for just about everything
    under the sun

    3. You drain his / her energy with all your problems and depressing life
but don't allow him her to talk about their issues because your are more important.

    4. You stopped doing fun things together such as going out to the movies, dinner, dancing, traveling or simply cuddling on the couch, etc.

    5. You are not as intimate (wild or passionate) as you used to be...

Then these can be some of the causes why either party may cheat.

Come on mister the excuses do not count, if there is issues they need to be addressed. It takes two. There is no excuse bottom line.

avaria, I totally agree that excuses do not count and that it takes two. I could have added "Here are 5 signs that may drive him / her to cheat if the issues are "not" addressed." It all starts with breakdown in communication, unless there was no communication to begin with. From the rate of breakups and divorces, I venture to say that it's easier for most to leave and or cheat, than to work on a relationship.

    Never leaves his phone alone
Closes websites or chat when you show up
Suddenly concerned about his grooming or appearance
His hours are different than before with no real good reason
    You think he is

A friend said she new her husband was cheating on her, when he starting acting nice to her; complimenting her on her clothing (instead of saying, "Why you asking me, don't we have a mirror?", etc.), cleaning up dinner dishes, buying her gifts for no apparent reason. I guess, it's a change of behavior is one big sign.

Secretive, making up excuses as to where he went, and who he associates
with. Always working late. Coming home smelling of perfume, has lipstick
on clothes. Receipts in his pockets, for purchases or where he has been.
They usually slip up eventually. Spending less time with you, having less
sex with you. Seem anxious and withdrawn from you, things change. Lying is
usually prominent, some people are better at covering their tracks then others.

These behaviors are also common when dealing with addictions in people.
They go to extreme lengths to hide what they are doing.
