To be alive, to be a part of life, beauty and the universe.
Don't think I would use the word blessed, though. Maybe I feel grateful, lucky, alive, awestruck even.

I hate the word "non-believer" that's a very derogatory term. It automatically puts people on the defensive. It's like saying "all you heathen heretics out there".

Not only to be alive but to have healthy, happy children. For what more can a person ask? Awestruck definately describes the feeling for me.

I am very much a believer but a believer in universal energy and oneness. My beliefs happen to be different than your beliefs. In that case I could say that you are a 'non-believer'. But reallly I don't care.

I agree that the derogatory and arrogance in your use of the term 'non-believers' is very off-putting.

I do happen to feel very blessed at times. blessed by the universe.

Archi put it elegantly.

Being blessed implies on a 'blessings provider' so I don't think many of us would use this word.
Even when I was a believer, the idea of 'blessing' was weird because the blessing is obviously not equally distributed.
How could I sit at the table and thank a god for my good fortune when at the same time there are millions below poverty level? If what I had was a blessing from a god, what did I do more than others to deserve it?

Thanking a blessing to god was more or less to say:

'Thank you god for this food to eat, fire to be warm, a roof under my head and I'm healthy. Thank you for picking me to give these blessings because I know you did not arranged the same nice things to a lot of people out there. Thanks for keeping me in the top of your list, pop!"

What am I doing then? Thanking my creator for his favoritism?

The same goes for miraculous survivals or cures. People don't seem to realize that crediting a cure or a survival to a 'blessing' granted by god automatically creates the awkward paradox of everybody else on the same situation left down by the same provider!
Of course believers will always fill in the uncomfortable gaps with god's hidden plans sugared excuses. :)

I've always felt I was lucky. Is that the same thing?

I wouldn't say I'm blessed, just really lucky.

There are no differences among believers and non-believers.
There are differences only among those who are obedient to the commands of God and those who are not.
It is not important to bear the names of any religions, but it is important to live as human beings who are created in the image and likeness of the One True God.

im not a non-believer, but I imagine they will not feel blessed until they start praying like hell on thier death beds. Thats usually how it goes with them.

absolutely, It doesn't have to be from a divine source to benefit me, and for me to enjoy it and to be glad it's there.

A word from the wise! watch out for that N-B word! alot of people seem to get pretty testy on here when you call them that, even though you are stating a fact, they cannot rationalize it that way. Guess they believe that having nothing to believe in is a GOOD thing and would rather go through life blindly and without accountability. However, they don't like that fact pointed out to them!
