They are two of the worst inventions of the high tech. age. I feel fortunate to have grown up during simpler times.

Cell phones are the most addictive thing on earth. It's sad to watch.

Worse, at least we got to know our neighbors, the kids had to go out and really play. No such thing as all the formalzed team sports that the kids are in nowadays, we had pick-up games that we played on the streets and used the cars and manhole covers as bases and ect.

Before everyone had a cell phone and was using the internet, my social life was better. I was able easily to start conversations with strangers and make friends that way, if I had gone somewhere alone. Now I can't do that anymore because no one is idle...I'm unable to disturb people when they're using their phones.

Mixed marks ..I hate walking into a doctors office ,say and seeing everyone bent over their smartphones, slaves to the grind..those same phones allow people who need to be able to communicate "connected",without pay phones.I doubt cutting the amount of texts sent daily would really do anything but good...on the internet, you can find almost ANYTHING,from images of Jesus on Facebook(true),to medical info,to an entire Graham Greene novel,online..downside: You cn find ANYTHING ON THE NET ,and some of it ain't healthy..one of the worst adverse effects is lack of real human communication,(I heard just yesterday that three of the major internet players are encouraging face to face meetings rather than virtual..hmmm.Also a generation spending inordinate amounts of time gaming and on the internet may really pay for it ,healthwise,in the future. These devices are tools..how wisely we use them is our choice.

I got my first mobile phone when the kids were young, hard keeping an eye on two toddlers when you are using a public payphone !! That said I now don't use one well hardly at all. Yes they are handy, but it is possible to live life without one. The internet is great. I would say in general life is better with both things, up to the individual to limit how much they use them. I remember Filofax craze, hahaha, people went crazy with those things as well lol. Make technology work for you, don't be a slave to technology.

Things are better now. The Internet has enabled us to reach out to people all over the world, and gain information which, hitherto, we would have had to trawl through books to discover. We can also speak to loved ones living miles away, via skype.
Mobile phones are also a useful tool for keeping in contact during potentially dangerous situations, ie, women being out alone.
The only downside to technology, as far as I can see, is the easy access to *********** in the net, which is damaging to children.

I can't stop the use of new technology...I can only manage the degree of its impact on my life...I have to find a way to live peacefully with it no matter what my feelings are about it...It is not going to go away and it will naturally morph into other things as well...
Is this better or worse?...it all depends on a lot of things....(sorry - I'm very comfortable here sitting on the fence)

I used to get a good night's sleep. But at least now when I stay up all night I'm not just waiting for still adverts with naked chicks in them to come on tv in between all the psychics and car stuff.
