For those who work a 9-5, you may get to work by 9, but what time do you actually 'start' working?

Hmmmmm, after posting some questions on EP for about a half an hour, reading my online newspapers, making sure checks have cleared the bank, and downing my breakfast, I'd say around 11:30am.

i usually arrive to work a quarter to a half hour early, to get settled in. you know, find the ideal parking spot, make coffee, rattle the vending machine for the last knotts strawberry shortbread cookies, vent over micromanaging supervisors and deranged clients. all this while checking voicemails and emails, priorititizing each task by what is most essential. by the time i do all that, it's officially time to clock in.

    Tumble outta bed
    And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawnin, stretchin, try to come to life
    Jump in the shower
    And the blood starts pumpin
    Out on the streets
    The traffic starts jumpin
And folks like me on the job from 9 to 5
    Chorus:

    Workin 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin
    Barely gettin by
    Its all takin
    And no givin
    They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
    Its enough to drive you
    Crazy if you let it

9 to 5, for service and devotion
    You would think that i
    Would deserve a fair promotion
    Want to move ahead
But the boss wont seem to let me in
I swear sometimes that man is out to get me
    Mmmmm...

    They let your dream
    Just a watch em shatter
    Youre just a step
On the boss mans a ladder
But you got dream hell never take away

    On the same boat
With a lot of your friends
    Waitin for the day
    Your shipll come in
    And the tides gonna turn
An it's all gonna roll you away

    Workin 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin
    Barely gettin by
    Its all takin
    And no givin
    They just use your mind
And you never get the credit
    Its enough to drive you
    Crazy if you let it

9 to 5, yeah, they got you where they want you
    There's a better life
And you think that I would daunt you
    Its a rich mans game
No matter what they call it
    And you spend your life
    Puttin money in his wollet

It depends. Some are sincere and start right earnestly. on the other extreme there are persons who delay it as far as they can. I belong to the first category and work to discharge my duties and also ensure my sub-ordinates follow it.

I actually am suppose to work 8:30-5:30, but I work a modified shift of 8-5. But I get here at 7am.

So to answer your question, I come in at 7. I don't start actually "working" until about 9. And I leave at 4:50 to avoid work traffic lol.
