Forgiveness and dutifulness as two magnets which repel each other. Do you agree ?
When a person wants to be forgiving and ignoring towards the fault of others, his or her weak innerself then lies in wait for expecting the same from others. When he or she does not get get this in return, then they start loosing any motivation to carry on being forgiving towards others. Similarly, when a person behaves dutiful and commited towards people, they then start expecting the same from them and when they do not see this happening, they begin to loose motivation to be sincere and committed in their relationship with people. If they would had chosen to be forgiving and lenient towards people accompanied by being dutiful and committed towards them at the same time, they would had then got an opportunity to grow as a human being. The growth of a person starts stagnating, the moment he or she starts expecting more than that they have given to a any relationship. The prime reason why giving is difficult is that FORGIVENESS and DUTIFULNESS are like two magnets which repel each other. The ability to strike a balance between the two is a stepping stone of personal growth. How do you perceive this ?F

Yes I agree that this happens. But true altruism is caring for people and not expecting anything in return- and in this case, it includes forgiving people and not expecting forgiveness back. We must be able to act in the world and give without ever expecting anything back. This is probably the number one important lesson to learn that school doesn't teach. Don't wait til midlife to realize the truth of this!

Dude, think about your thoughts before trying to post thought-enacting questions. Stop trying to overextend. You can't begin a premise with stating that two things are opposites, then suggest a being should attempt to enact both at once. Stop wasting bandwidth- a wifi connection is not a requirement for meditation, nor can wisdom be enforced upon others by using big words.

Pushky - first I have NO duty towards others except to give them the same chances I have had and not hurt them by my actions. As far as ignoring their faults - NO. I will try to forgive someones faults but I will not ignore them. I will ignore that person if his/her faults are bad enough and they refuse to change.
DUTY, as you use it here is an act or a course of action that is required of one by position, social custom, law, or religion or a moral obligation.
Foregiveness means to excuse for a fault or an offense; to pardon.
In other words you are trying to compare apples and oranges. Apples will always be apples and oranges always oranges. Put them both in a bowl together and they will lay there - together. I think you try to read too much into religion.

I tried to read it, but it's all too confusing. So i'll just take a random stand which happens to be DISAGREE!

Yeah, they are probably opposites. Forgiveness is a decision motivated from within a person. Duty is a decision based on outside forces.

Paul McCartney said it best. "Let it be."
If we put too much pseudo intellectual thought into our own second nature it ceases to be second nature. Don't let your right hand obsess on what your left hand is obsessing on.

Most people won't be dutiful to another if they haven't forgiven them, of a wrong.

Ok Pushky slow down and type carefully, because that was the most grammatically incorrect question you have typed to date. (which is really saying something) But from what I did get out of that I can say when someone shows loyalty towards another who doesn't show the same loyalty in return, they don't always loose motivation. I can argue this personally because I know just how stupid and desperate a guy can be to get some girl to notice him. No matter how many times she blows him off (or doesn't, lol) he'll keep coming back.
