My dad. I'm forever and always a daddy's girl. I learned a lot of things from him, even cooking and doing household chores. I also learned from him how to interact with different people. I am the way I am right now because of my dad and I'm proud of it

My family doctor, a man who is now in his 80's and has forgotten more than I'll ever know. His greatest gifts were time and just listening. He didn't judge, he didn't give advice unless I asked for it. I don't think there are many like him anymore.
It wasn't my family or origin, that's for sure!

I think it had to be my mother and grandparents they were always my rock growing up and still are in many ways, they changed my attitude and how I looked at things being my guide when I became a rebel at a young age.

Of my parents I was Mommy's girl. Daddy was someone I looked up to and respected also loved, but Momma was my heart song.
When Dad became very ill I went to him and told him, "Daddy I love you more than words could ever say, and I have to tell you one thing you need to hold tight in your heart. Momma has ALWAYS been special to me. Even when she first got sick(schizophrenia) I stood by her thick and thin.
Here he tells me, "I know baby I know."
"Dad do not doubt ever what you have meant to my life, but you must know I will always be here for my mother. I will protect her with all I have." I tell him.
He's starting to tear now and looks at me directly. "Carla, I know you will. You wont let your sister interfere. 'Cause you KNOW how they never got along."
And I was there with Mommy when she went into hospice. I stayed with her day and night till she took her last breath.

My father , I knew I never wanted to be like him or marry a man like him ... having a bad example for a man as a parent helped steer my away from the losers ..

Ironic, I think some people I barely had contact with had a major influence in my life. Then again my family was very spread out and distant so some of whom I had very little contact with.

My father and grandfather my namesake. They were never easy on me and pushed me to be a man. They taught me how to endure the harshness that the world can bring and to survive.

My grandfather and my great uncle and great aunt on my mothers side, both of which were scientists working for the US Navy, and my aunt who was in the US Army. Other than my great aunt, I actually had very little contact with either of them but they were always sending me books. At least in regards to the subject of technology, I had a college freshmen level of education before I even completed elementary school. I have always felt overshadowed by their achievements.

I was for a short time a student aid for a professor named John Collins (yes, just like the drink), whom would not even remember me. Here was a man teaching in a junior college as his hobby, his real job was consultant work for NASA. The man simply inspired genius, I will never forget him.

My high school sweetheart to which unfortunate events only allowed us a few short months to ever spend together in this life. She whom helped me to discover the man who I am.

I think my father did well to impact my life. He taught me the difference between good and bad and made me to believe in myself and abilities. He will always tell me that you must always control your feelings and emotions. He allowed me to be independent which obviously made me to learn from my mistakes. His believe in me even made me swear never to let him down.
