Hair dyes... what do you do or have done to keep your hair in shape?

I fried my hair stripping red feria dyes out to go back blond but right when it started looking good my thyroid acted up and I went hypo and my hair refuses to defrizz no matter what i do. I have a friend who started hennaing 3 years ago to salvage her mane after years of dyeing and bleaching. It is now past her butt and gorgeous. I ordered cassia and henna to go strawberry blond because I think the lawsone in henna can save it, but my blond will be gone. Long red hair or short blond... I love long hair more and everyone liked red on my skin tone so I'm gonna give it a go.

Have you tried coconut oil? Once or twice a week I will wash my hair with a conditioning shampoo and then towel dry...I'll put enough coconut oil to cover my hair...wrap it in a towel, or if you have one of those heated hair dryers to sit under, I recommend sitting under that. If not...you can place a towel in the microwave and heat it for a bit and then wrap it around your hair. If you want to forgo the towel thing, no problem, you can just put the coconut oil in your hair and keep it in there all day. Then you wash it out. Also...another thing that smoothes the hair is to rinse with apple cider vinegar...you can google the measurements but it's really good for your hair and keeps it smooth and shiny. Good luck.

My mom has been using coconut oil and her hair looks great. I use placenta, olive oil cholesterol, and macadamia and argon oils but it stopped responding to anything. It's softer but still breaks too easy. I should try coconut next since my mom's hair took it so well but her hair is very dark, native american hair so she hasnt bleached in years. She was high blond for forever though. It looks so much healthier now.

Well...when you dye it you are stripping it and that is taking away a lot of nutrients. Also, taking oils internally is good too. Coconut oil, I swear is like a magic cure or something. It's advised to take 1tbsp up to 3x daily...it can also be used as lotion (or body oil when you come out of the shower). Oh...also brushing it everyday with a good boar hairs brush is really good for it too...smoothes the hair.

Id avoid bleaching as it strips hair of everything and leaves it dry and dead looking. Long hennaed hair is very attractive and far healthier.

It really is beautiful. My friend's hair is so silky and strong. It looks nothing like it did before. She went black, then bleached to blonde, and everything in between. Now she uses henna and indigo and its this dark gothic burgundy brown. Vampire hair as she calls it. No split ends anywhere. It's amazing.

My hair is so black it is really hard to get any colour in it at all. It takes a fair amount of bleach just to get reddish or brown highlight. Its very shiny and strong though. I don't use products or conditioner and only natural shampoo.
