No but Mirena is the only hormonal IUD that has Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. Mirena prevents pregnancy for up to five years after insertion.

I have had mine for about 3 years now. I do not have a period (which the doctor says that means it's working properly). but, for the past week I have had lower abdominal pains that feel like knives, bloating, fatigue, I have had swelling of my hands and feet and they also turn bright neon pink, (which i have had since I got the IUD; it occurs when I drink any alcohol or eat), headaches, nausea, and have picked up anxiety problems drastically, also I have had night terrors, and painful experiences with intercourse to the point of crying and feels like someone is punching my stomach for hours. I am going to the hospital tomorrow to see what is going on. But, do not recommend this IUD to anyone. (p.s. sorry for being so graphic but my intentions are to be helpful)
