Yes I have been double crossed buy both family and so called friends

that was a wake up call to me. That you have to really look after number one
in life. That you have to watch your back in every circumstance and make sure that you don't leave any doors open in your life that people can walk in and mess you up in some way or steal from you or talk trash about you or anything else.
Me I still love people and have people in my life. But I don't allow people into a position where they can cheat me. Like I had a family member try to squander an inheritance that my grandmother left me away from me while I was out of the country. It was an aunt. She tried to convince my grandma to take the chunk of money away from me and give it to her. But luckily I had a trustee watching over the money that was able to stop it. But you see. I was only gone for like 2 years and already a vulture in my own family. An aunt tried to rip me off of my inheritance. what a B(tch. So well Luckily it didn't happen but she tried.
She kicked me when I was down and out of town for her own personal gain. and she didn't even need that money the way I do. So that was a wake up call to me
that you have to watch you back. Especially when it comes to financial matters in life. I also have been stabbed in the back buy friends a few times People turning against me and bringing trouble down on me. There is a line in the movie American Beauty where the Mom in the story tells her daughter... its time for you to know that the only person you can really count on is yourself.

I think it depends on what you mean by "double crossed". I do not know what situation you are talking about or what happened. It would be important to know the details.

My understanding of double crossed means intentionally lied to or mislead. That has never happened, but there have been misunderstandings where I or the other person assumed something different than the other person. This is about miscommunication and not really about the persons purposeful intention to do something unkind to me.

Yes family. Do not care to go over it. But I will always remember this quote. It always brings me back from the issue. “Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”
