Have you tried doing it in a metal cup or picture. for some reason it seems to froth better in those. And maybe put the frothing stem a little deeper.

I never could get soy to foam well at all. Maybe try a more extreme angle of the steamer wand to the pitcher? Good luck. I miss being a barista.

I'm pretty sure my answer isn't considered magic but here goes. . . I use something called Aerolatte. You can purchase it online or at stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Crate & Barrel and many other places. While my coffee is brewing I pour whatever amount of liquid I'm using into my coffee cup and turn it on. It is a high powered mini whisk, runs on 2 AA batteries and created lovely foam or if you don't turn it off soon enough it makes whipped cream if you happen to be using heavy cream in your coffee. (Truly a guilty pleasure I assure you)

I have used every thing from cream to skim milk. I have yet to try soy milk with it. I would have to think though, that if the high end coffee houses can froth it, you should be able to at home also. Type in Aerolatte into your browser and your computer will bring you to it instantly, I believe there is even a place to read FAQ and perhaps even ask your own questions. I picked one up for $14.99 and I can tell you that along with frothing my milk, it mixes scrambled eggs beautifully, makes killer whipped cream, mixes up powered hot chocolate when that is all you have time to make and mixes a perfect vinaigrette.

Good luck, I really hope you find something that works for you.
