Has anyone here taken the morning after pill?
I have been on birth control before and the first 3 months of that were horrible with all the nausea. After researching the morning after pill it says it is like a higher dose of birth control. I want to assure my fiancee he can enjoy our time together this weekend, but I don't want to suffer for it.

So tell me, how bad is it?

UPDATE: I understand the concern that I am essentially using this as a contraceptive, and not an emergency contraceptive. But to be honest, I would NEVER put myself in a situation where I needed this as an EMERGENCY. My fiancee is in the Navy so I don't get to see him enough to be taking real birth control, so this is what we're going with. I apologize if my "logic" offends anyone.

It's different for everyone. Some birth control pills made me nauseous, some didn't. I took the morning after pill and I don't think I experienced any symptoms, but that doesn't mean you won't.

Do you mean you're not going to use birth control this weekend, you're just going to use the morning after pill instead? Because that's not a smart thing to do.

I have taken it several times and had no ill from it at all. I would say though that it is an emergancy contracepion and it isn't 100% effective, you're not really supposed to take it as a method of contraception. Also if you take it too frequently your body can build up a slight immunity to it and it doesn't work so well. If you are going to do this then take it as soon as possible after having unprotected sex, the longer you leave it the less chance you have of it working. Oh and if you're sick afterwards then you need to go back and get another one incase you sicked up the pill!

There are other methods if you don't like the pill that would work more long term such as the coil or the contraceptive injection. I would suggest checking these out with your doctor so that next time you don't need to worry about taking the morning after pill.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I've taken it. Several times. But i was a last resort. He should ALWAYS wear a condom. I was in a relationship with a man who refused to. Consequently, we broke up. But it is so important to wear a condom.
I have taken the morning after pill 3 times. All 3 times i didn't feel sick. I think i a felt a bit "off" and hormonal and i took one overseas that then made my have my period for almost 3 weeks . .
But recently, i had another accident where the condom essentially broke, and i didn't have money for the morning after pill, so i spoke to a friend who is an ob-gyno and she told me to take 4 of the 'normal' pill and it will work the same way. I took 5 because i was so scared.
And i've been vomitting for 3 days.

Just wear a condom. :)

i took it and found i could feel the difference in the amount of chemical interference in my personality and in my digestion. otherwise, no evil effects. it's expensive and a pain in the *** but frankly, it's a lovely thing.

It made me throw up. Guess I wasn't supposed to take it.

I had to take it once and I didn't feel any ill-effects whatsoever. Guess it just depends on the person. I'd say side-effects are well worth being safe in the long run though.

The only problem I had with it was one time I took it and my period came the next day, even though I had just finished my period a week ago. I was so annoyed!
