it's not so much look as it is feels. Painful periods, painful sex. Abnormal spotting, discharge. Getting regular paps is crucial. I was tested for it at the age of 19. This was due to several abnormal pap results. Cancer is rampant in my family. I'm the only female left who hasn't been diagnosed with it. Ease your worries, and go see an OB/GYN. Get a second opinion if you're not comfortable with what they tell you. Listening to your body, and following your intuition helps also. I wish you well, hun.

have just been to the hospital today. should of been having a hysterectomy within the week because of cervical cancer, but i have a chest infection, so am on antibiotics for that. so next wed, i am having the pre op tests to check my fitness and the scan to see if i can keep my ovaries (it depends how far in my womb the cells are) i will be having the op on 10th june. i will be able to just have an epidural because general anaesthetic makes me ill! i've not had any symptoms, my periods have been a bit irregular in the last couple of years (every 2 or 3 weeks instead of 4) my doctor said that was just my age, i'm only 41!! i've not had any symptoms really. the only reason its been caught is i have regular smear tests, every year because of abnormal cells before. from what i've read, any symptoms are a little vague and can easily be explained away, so its just the smear test then. i'd put mine off, didn't want such discomfort, then JADE happened and i went, 6 months late but if i'd left it another 6 months, then that would of most likely been Too Late.

about 4 years ago they told me they thought I was showing sign of cervical cancer, and they schedualed a biopsy a week later, it was a terrible week, I thought about my kids, my life my family and wondered what was going to change, then they did the biopsy and i had to wait a week for the results, I cried all day thinking about my kids, the test came back neg, and the relief I felt was so great, I hope your test comes back neg, and if not I will pray for you and your family

My sister has ovarian/cervical cancer. Angelwings is so right. Regular pap smears are so important in detection and early treatment for this rampant disease. My sister had no clue anything was wrong with her but I was insistent that my sisters get checked early on. Thank God she did!!!!Good luck to you. Call your OB/Gyn soon and make that appointment.
