Has anyone out there had a lucid dream?

Have you had a dream where inside this dream you realize you are dreaming, and you are able to control this dream?

The only lucid dream I can recall involved sitting in front of a computer, in the office, typing. I think I would rather have nightmares, than that. Come to think of it, it WAS a nightmare........

ahh yes my favorite way to dream actually. i work out my internal garbage that way. one of the most intriguing was one where i was dreaming that my late grandmother was there talking to me to tell my sister & cousin she loved them. another was a time i was working out my freud issues by forgiving my father. the real me was all pissed going "what the hell are you doing? why are you doing that? he doesn't deserve your forgiveness? don't you remember?" and the me in the dream walked over to the pissed off me to hug me, comfort me & forgive me for my anger, resentment & sense of guilt. so of course the pissed off me is crying. i woke up crying but i felt really good like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. other times i like to dream i am married to shemar moore or brian white with our 3 kids & 2 dogs. that always makes the watching me happy.

You can control your dreams to a large extent. It takes some practice, but its way better than the movies.

I don't think it was a lucid dream, since I still felt like it was real, but I remember a few times actively changing the course of my dreams by thinking "no wait, this should happen" to save myself or to keep the storyline making sense.

I have had lucid dreams throughout my life and remember them.
One that stands out if when my deceased mother-in-law was in my kitchen and asked me get her son, my husband to pick up the phone. When I got him to pick up the phone, it was her on the phone and I told him that I had just had a dream and woke up .... then I found that I was still in the kitchen talking to my deceased mother-in-law and broke out into a cold sweat .. then I woke up and it was a double whammy dream ..

I always had a lucid dreams when I was younger ! It was about Dream within the Dream ... Lucid dreams give us the ability to control our own dreams and steer them toward the direction we want. In the lucid state, we are more willing to confront threats and as a result, become more self confident. When we achieve lucidity, we can use it as a tool to improve our sports game, to rehearse a speech, to fulfill our fantasies, or to solve a problem in our waking life. In fact, some athletes utilize their lucid dreams to practice their tennis serve, golf stroke or bat swing. Even in our day to day life, we can use lucid dreams to ask the boss for a raise, prepare for a first date, overcome phobias ;)

Yes, and I found the website ld4all.com is a good place to start if looking for information on lucid dreaming. A friend directed me there and I haven't explored it extensively, but have been having more lucid dreams simply by being aware that I am able to have them, if that makes sense. I enjoy lucid dreaming and wish you well with it.

I've had dreams where I've known it was a dream, but I don't recall ever really being able to control them. I wish I could though, it would be really cool.

Yes, I used to have them all the time. Not sure what happened, but now they seem real but I'm just an observer & can't change the outcome. The only thing I can think of is that I used to have better control over my waking life than I do now & that is reflecting into my dreams as well.

Several times. I used to have tons when I was a child. Nowadays not so much, but still more than most people from what I can gather. I have an active imagination so I figure that adds to the diversity and quality of some of the dreams I can experience. I sometimes go through periods of dissociation where I just cruise my way through life on autopilot, never really reflecting on anything, and usually during those periods I barely ever remember my dreams.

It's usually when I make some time for myself and 'wake up' that I find it easier to both remember and influence my dreams. Though I often find that they have an awkward way of rebelling against me if I try to force certain things to happen, and I usually wake up soon afterwards. If I just 'play along' with the dream, it works better!

Sometimes. Those can be the best dreams because I can make myself fly and such. It's a lot of fun, and I always wake up so refreshed and happy.

The first time I was five years old, I was driving a car like thing through hills, I got out to check the road and when I turn back the car like thing had changed.

I realized I was dreaming and became terrified screaming (in the dream) that I wanted to wake up. It was so intense the memory has stuck with me ever since.

I have had many lucid dreams since then, in fact I think I am aware I am dreaming in nearly all my dreams now. And thankfully the dreams in which I was not human but some weird scorpion like 'thing' ended years ago.

I have realised I was in a dream, when I have had a nightmare, and been able to shake myself awake. Most times I can't though. I had one on Thursday night.. well Friday morning actually.. where I was being attacked by my father and I realised that it was a dream, and as it was a dream, there was nothing to discourage him from going all the way and killing me.. so I decided to shake myself until I woke-up.. thank goodness I was able to do it that time.. it was extremely scary for me, and I felt quite shaken and vulnerable for the rest of the day. I came to EP straight-away and wrote the dream down.

I have had lucid dreams before, but most of the time I only realise I'm dreaming when I'm about to wake up and I don't want the dream to end.
