Has anyone tried colon detoxing?
I had been wanting to detox my body for a while and today I finally picked up "The Cleaner." I have been having digestive problems and well, constipation. I only "go" maybe twice a week. I noticed that my stomach has started to pop out a little (it looks like a little pot belly), and I think this might be due to excessive waste build up. I was wondering if anyone has tried colon detoxing and what their results were.

Why do you think your colon is "toxic"? I'd check with your doctor before using something over the counter like that for only the reasons you mention. Maybe you just need to add more fiber to your diet to make yourself more "regular".

If you want to detox your colon go to the doctor and get the kit you use before a colonoscopy. If you follow instructions within a day you will crap clear water (your colon will be totally clear. Try it.

I'm sure someone has. To find this person, scour the city for someone that looks like s/he has just swallowed a pineapple.

i have not, but i've been wanting to detox as well and am contemplating a colon cleanse. a friend of mine who has done a few, says it requires a few trips to completely cleanse. but he said he felt much better, less bloated, and most ready to begin a better diet and lifestyle afterwards.

I have never tried it but you can get all the info you need at a reliable health food store that sells it. I was going to try it but my healthstore told me to try CLEANSE MORE. I used it and it helped me. Its a milder way of going without the fear because some people dont need a detox. Check it out!!!!

My wife and I tried one of those week long detox diet things. She has problems similar to what you are describing. So, she got a book, and we tried it. Honestly, it was a difficult diet to follow (a lot of cranberry juice, and strict guidelines of what you had to eat each day.) But, for me, I did not see any big change or improvement really. Not for her either...

I think that some of the others here are probably closer to the right answer. More fiber in your diet. I have also noticed that if you drink Hot coffee or Hot tea it can help to speed things along.

But above everything else seems to be just having a "trigger" that your body responds to regularly. It is almost as though your body responds to mental stimuli in a predictable manner. (like Pavlov's Dog Experiment). If you find out what yours is, then you can take more control or your body. For me, mine is whenever I sit down and type at the computer. I am serious... I have to run. Good luck.

Twice a week sounds okay to me, but if you're worried you should see a doctor.

I'm not saying you shouldn't detox as well. Once in a while couldn't hurt.

Colon detox is not as simple as some might be tempted to make it. It is not a simple matter of things being like a clogged toilet or plumbing under your sink. Poor digestion can be caused by a *lot* of different things. I would start first by drinking a lot more water, (bottled distilled for preference, if you can get it) every day. *THAT* should certainly start things going in terms of your digestion working better. But along with that, you might want to add some fiber into your diet. Fiber can be found in a lot of fruits and veggies, it's not just bran and certain grains. Also, try adding a supplement like Greens Plus (available at your health food store) into your diet. You can get it in either a powder form to stir into water or take it in a capsule, like I do, a few times a day. Once you have things moving along, try talking with a doctor or holistic naturopathic doctor, and see what they say about visiting someone for a colonoscopy (colon cleanse). While having a colon cleanse will get *some* of the deep down gunk in your intestines and digestive tract, it will take time to really improve things, so you may need repeat visits, as well as staying on top of improving your diet in other areas.

Don't confuse mere cleansing with a colonoscopy procedure itself. Colonoscopy is an invasive proceedure where a tiny camera apperatus attached to a rubber cord is inserted into one's rear and threaded through the colon. Colonoscopy itself is not a cleanse, and is not prescribed as a cleanse. It is a serious procedure performed to inspect the colon for abnormalities, such as polyps which may be or become cancerous. It can be painful an requires anesthesia. In my case, when a polyp is found a biopsy is taken and tested for cancer or pre-cancerous growths.

It is the preparation for a colonoscopy that requires removing all matter from the digestive tract by drinking a cleansing solution, mentioned above. That's the only cleansing part of a colonscopy procedure.

You would be hard pressed to find a physician to order a colonoscopy for someone as young as yoursef unless you are at risk of colon cancer. Only your doctor can assess your risk for colon cancer.

I echo the advice above which works for me: drink 8 8oz. glasses of water every day, eat at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day, and get some exercise on a regular basis- take a walk, do easy yoga, Chi Gong, (I use videos- cheaper than a gym membership), ride a bike, whatever. Sitting at a computer doesn't count as exercise. Wish it did! Take care of yourself.
