I agree with you. I find people who are born with epilepsy, or blind, deaf, or crippled to be offensive - why should my children have to be traumatized by seeing them? I think they should all just stay inside and not be allowed out on the streets.

And Blacks, Asians, Latins, Middle-easterners - they all look different than the "normal" white Northern Europeans. I understand they are born that way (poor devils) and don't want to exterminate them or anything - I'm a reasonable guy - but should they be allowed out on the streets with the decent normal folks? Should our government try to convince us that they're OK? What if our kids marry one of them?

And, you know what - all those people who attend other churches than mine - I don't want my children being given another option to consider. I want them to stick to my ideas - so, I think they should be restricted too.

Don't want my tax dollars spent trying to convince people that Presbyterians and Nazarenes and Catholics are OK. And, when you get to LDS and Jews and Moslems and all the rest - why should they be allowed to flaunt their disturbing differences in my children's faces.

I am not advocating locking any of these groups up or loading them onto box cars for resettlement away from "decent" folks - at least not yet. Maybe we could have them wear armbands in public so we'll know who to avoid and restrict their ability to attend public schools (since we pay for those) and their ability to work or own businesses.

I find it very unfortunate that you are so narrow-minded and intolerant. It's disgusting that you compare homosexuality to suicide. How the heck are two people being in love the same thing as a person tragically killing themselves?! This type of attitude infuriates me, and I'm not even gay.

No one should have to hide their gender-preference; that is offensive and absurd. No one should be tortured, beaten, persecuted, ridiculed, mocked, hindered, or treated differently simply because of who they fall in love with. They aren't hurting you, they aren't vile, they aren't immoral, and they aren't going to turn your children into a homosexual (on noez!!!!!) simply by existing in public. Being straight doesn't make you better than being homosexual.

Wow, that's a loaded gun you have there Rob. Comparing sexual preference to depression/suicidal thoughts? It's understandable that you personally don't agree with sleeping with the same sex, for yourself. And I know that you said you don't care that others do, but why would you also say that you don't think they should be allowed to embrace themselves and their lives? I would only hope that the media and government could help people be more accepting of same sex relationships, seeing as they've been around as long as hetero-sexual ones.

Why do you have to be so closed minded? I'm 14 years old and I'm really open minded and hearing that from an adult is just sad. How could it be that a grown adult has these horrible things to say. When and if you become gay, then maybe you'll have the right to say something about homo sexuality. Otherwise, stay shut !

Eep... okay, I understand what you're saying and where you're coming from. I also know this is a very touchy subject. However, what you have to understand is that gays were treated horribly for decades. They were discriminated against, beat up, and killed, all because they were gay. That's not cool. Of course the government should step in and do something about it. The government has a responsibility to protect all citizens no matter who they sleep with.

It doesn't matter whether you can understand "how anyone could accept the fact that being gay or lesbian is okay" or not. I'm sure there are a LOT of things that you do not understand. Whether or not you believe that it should be kept in the closet does not matter. The fact that you do not think gay situations and concepts should be braodcast does not matter. The fact that you don't think they should fly rainbow flags does not matter. Do you understand? Your opinion about this does not matter. Gay people are not going to ask for your permission.

No. We should not let people kill themselves in public. This, however, is completely unrelated to whether or not people hide the fact that they are gay. Killing anyone, including yourself, is decidedly wrong. Loving someone is not.

If gay people are making it hard for someone to raise their kids, maybe it is because they are worrying over dangers that simply aren't there, and issues that just don't matter. The fact that gay people exist does not matter to children any more than it matters to anyone else, unless they decide to make a big deal out of it. You complain about having to explain to your children more than just where babies come from. So what? Why is it any harder to mention that some guys like each other too? The kid isn't going to care anyway. He wants to go play video games. He's probably not going to ask questions, but if he does, what could he possibly ask that wouldn't be hard to explain? "Yes. They love each other. No. They can't get married."

You obviously do have a problem with gay people, if you don't want to see them publicized, no matter how convincing you sounded when you claimed that you are not (Ha!) . If I announced that I didn't want to see particular minorities on my television, I would be called a lot of names, as I'm sure you are.

The fact that in your post you also complained about no prayer in school; something that is completely off the subject matter, but is a good excuse to mention God, almost randomly; tells the reader all the he needs to know about your motivations and opinions on the issue.

It's a shame that I have written all of this toward someone who will most likely not absorb a word of it anyway.
