A couple of weeks ago I noticed that some of the Scottish broom plants in my area had started to flower and I took it as a sign that spring has sprung on Vancouver Island. At first it seemed a little hard to believe because it was only the middle of January but I kept seeing more signs of spring - cheery blossoms, flowering daffodils, the tree frogs are out and lots of other signs. About the only sign of spring that I wasn't so happy to see was some of the weeds were starting to flower - part of my job is keeping flower beds weed free. Not so easy when you don't use chemicals because weeds are quite cleaver at surviving and spreading plus they got Mother Nature working with then (birds, animals and wind spreading seeds). Anyway 3 cheers to spring!
