Yes - my father was driving and the brakes failed on a steep road; he veered off the road into a paddock and hit a tree. I was on my way to college carrying my books in my back on the floor of the car. I was unharmed, largely because the books protected me, though they were bent and twisted beyond repair. All I suffered was some mild concussion. Just wasn't my time yet.

Barely. It was during a blizzard. We were going about 10 km/hr or less. A white car appeared out of nowhere and we rear-ended it.
