It is going away. And with it goes proper spelling as well as proper vernacular (listen to how people talk when they actually do talk.)

Can't see the point in text unless you're deaf. Suppose when they first come out, it was a way to charge a small fortune for a new concept in communication. Now, they're just bog standard along with camera, videos etc...

The art is alive and well for those of us that have the chance to practice and enjoy it . Some folks never had it to lose in the first place though
