Ya, last month as a matter of fact. I alternate between a local blood bank and the Red Cross. Both have changed their questionares. It seems like the list of stuff they ask about gets longer and longer each time I go. They still want my O- though.
Yes, I have given blood, but I don't remember the bit about Chagas either. The parameters for donating blood is constantly changing. I would rather that the possibility of a horrible disease be restricted until more is found out about it or the area where it comes from.
There are also certain countries that one may have traveled to that prevents you from donating for certain periods of time to assure that you have not picked up certain diseases either.
We don't want to pass along something to a person in need of a blood transfusion who's body would not be able to handle that when they are already compromised, now would we?
True. Years ago, you just went in and they made sure you were healthy that day and your hemoglobin was good and you gave. Then with HIV/AIDS and the hepatitis as well as so much world travel, they sure are constantly changing who can give anymore. So many questions to answer and such.
