I went yesterday for the first time, and I was pretty bad. I fell three times and got skating advice from a girl who looked like she was about 6.

have you ever seen an ostrich wearing ice skates? there's a reason for that....all the other ostriches made fun of me when i slipped on the ice. **flapping wings with indignation**

Yes, I used to go every Sunday at Wolman Memorial (Central Park) with my Mom, Dad, and Sister growing up.

Recently I went ice-skating on board "The Explorer of the Seas" a cruise ship. I skated with professionals as well as passengers who were seeking fun and an experience that was unique and exciting. I had the best time..

yes, I lived in Colorado for many years.
I think the ice that is 'manufactured' by those machines is a bit softer and easier to skate on. A truly frozen lake has harder ice and I found it harder on my ankles and all. It is fun, though!

Yes, some 25+ years ago. I didn't like it very much. So I never went again.

Best Answer

Yes, when I was a kid and a teenager and into my twenties I practically lived on the ice. I loved ice skating and went every chance I got.

Best Answer

Yes. When I was around 4 or 5. My dad took me, my mom probably made him. I loved it! It was at a local lake. Back in the day they had a tall flag pole with red or green flag up to indicate whether the lake was frozen solid or not. :)

Not yet. It is on my list of "things to try" this year! As a child I used to LOVE roller skating and roller blading, so I am hoping it will be a similar fun.

Best Answer

Yes - in my much earlier days... on a skating rink in a city. One needs well-fitting high boots to offset the fatigue of the ankles.

Roller skating is nice too; but one thing about ice skating is, although its cold, its less injurious to fall on ice - where you keep going for a while - than on rollers, where you come to a sudden stop!

Both offer a gliding sensation like one was flying - something I'd love to be able to do!

Lol I loved ice skating when I was young....I used to fall down a lot and get wet---but I loved it.

I'm Canadian, so naturally.

as a kid we used to go skating on the river when it froze... be glad you're learning on a prepared ice surface.

Best Answer

yeah I've been, a few times, I sucked at but it was still fun!

Best Answer

Yes and I can't say that I really liked it.
As a child growing up in Canada, it was the "in thing" to do. Always got figure skates and because of those spikes in the front of the blade, always tripped and fell over.
Too cold. Too clumsy. Too bad!

i hate ice skatting....i spend more time on my *** then i do on my feet! ugh!

Best Answer

I love to skate! Dont worry about your skill - it will improve as your ankle strength improves. A lot of the early wobbliness is just developing the right muscles.

Best Answer

yes but the skates always hurt my feet, so i don't do it often

Best Answer

nope
but this weekend should be my first

Best Answer

Hundreds of times. Skating is fun, especially if you smoke some weed before hand, and go late at night with a bunch of friends.
Accept whatever advice you get, from people of any age, if they know what they are doing!

Best Answer

I went once as a young kid. I've always been on the chunky side, so I've never felt "safe" on the ice!

Best Answer

yes, lots of times. lol at your experience! I don't like how many people are always there.
