Yes!

I was friends with a guy who would ***** and moan about problems in his personal life and I would just sit there like an *******, nodding my head and trying to be "understanding".

He had been a very good friend to me in work-related matters so I didn't say: "Hang on a second, you're totally full of crap" until it was far too late.

His life was already unravelling. If I had "fallen out" with him sooner that may not have solved his problems, but it would have saved us both alot of time and we could at least have remained friends for the long term.

As it was, I ignored his crap to the point where he became actively self-destructive and obnoxious. By then, it was too late.
