no way.....never without paying for it....BUT ...when the girls were little and they were melting down in the store I would open a package of crackers of something to keep them quiet...but would always pay for it and explain to the cashier that it was making the others shopping experience more pleasant!! :)

I eat the grapes. The packages have huge holes in them. I doubt that they would miss one or two.

Yeah, the poor innocent grape, cherry or strawberry in the produce section. If I can't taste them, I'm not buying them!

When I was small and accompanied my mum when she was shopping, I used to see everyone at the grapes, so I thought that's what you're meant to do. I used to stuff my mouth with them. Not anymore though.

When my brother was a toddler, my mom put a bag of apples into our cart. He was very stubborn and he wouldn't stop crying until she gave him one. (She of course cleaned it with all the antibacterial products she always carried around) And the worst part was...not that he ate most of the apple before she paid for it, but that it fell into the HUGEST puddle when we stepped outside. My brother kept crying and crying, saying in his baby talk that he can't leave the apple mommy gave him. So my mom, out of desperation, cleaned it again and gave it back to him.

In Canada they make it simple. In every isle they have someone set up to give freebies out so you can test something and buy it if you like it. Here because it is a capitalist world they are too cheap to do something like that. However it doesn't justify that if someone does do what you suggest it is stealing and they should be prosecuted like any other thief. I did it as a kid because I didn't know any better and I was hungry so I grabbed a grape or two as I passed by.

If I am looking to buy grapes, I will sample one or two, because it is SUCH A PAIN to buy a bunch, only to discover at home that they are sour and not worth eating.

Yes when I was weighing the grapes I was buying yesterday one popped out the bag and I popped it in my mouth without even thinking. I'm now waiting on that knock on the door!!
