Have you ever had a person you love leave you? How did you cope?

I'm not saying that they dump you but that they leave, move to another country and you know in your heart that you're never going to see them again. How do you cope? Has it ever happened to any of you?

Yes - my ex left me for no reason (that he was willing to share). I didn't cope. I cried my heart out for months, lost 3 stone without trying, barely slept and didn't go near another man for a long long time.

I raised my 6 yr cousin since he was 6 months old. Loved like the child I never had. I never had any legal rights to him and his mom and dad didnt want anything to do with him. So I took him in. This past Aug his showed up saying she had a new boyfriend and took him from me. She wouldnt tell where they moved to. I know in my heart I probly wont see him again. I still dont know that I'm over it.

My mom died when I was 16.
I didn't cope. I got paralyzed. I had anxiety attacks. I started taking pills because I couldn't sleep.

yeah. one guy broke contact. I missed him but moved on. i figured he would understand that when you do that and there is no chance of contacting him again it is a breakup, so I moved on. To a guy with a consistent phone and consistent address.

If it happened to you, I'm sorry. Mine happened in 1967 and I still remember clearly. It wasn't to another country but she transferred from the school we were attending to one about 700 miles away. I still wonder how she was able to do it. I couldn't have ever been the one to leave. The fact that she could go meant something and I wasn't very mobile then so I had to just let go.

I moved on but always kept the memories of her close by. I hope she's well and happy.

That's exactly what happened to me. He moved away and neither of us believe in long distance relationship. I caved once, he caved once but in the end, that's that.

It was a really long goodbye. I think I was able to cope thanks to another complication in life. This is where silver lining really comes to pass. I had to get a job and work my a$$ off due to family financial difficulties so it distracted me from moping too much and got me through.

Yes, it happened. It was very hard for me and, in a more mature way now it still is sometimes. Basically I coped by focusing on other issues in my life, finding a boyfriend I love, focusing on self-growth, just... moving on with life. I believe we always have a choice, we have free will. I had the choice (still do, I guess) to email him back or look him up, get back in touch. Yes, he left, but it is my belief that it's better not to do anything about it, given the circumstances. When it gets difficult, I cope by reminding myself of all I have and of the reason why I choose not to try and get back in touch. You know how it is, after all. I love him (not relationship-wise... I have a bf, but I care about him) but he left. If he comes back as a friend, I will welcome him as such. If we just happen to meet again I will treat him best I can. But if he doesn't come back, I'll just live my life anyway, and live it well.

It hurts a lot though when it happens. Try to focus on everything that is wonderful about your life.
