It certainly was messy in my opinion, Li Na had changes. Congrats to the winner.

Good. When I think the enormous amount of resource and human energy that gets poured into such things it can only be a good thing if more people could care a little less about it...

It is not that they didn't care. In fact it is that they cared even more. They just truly were not on the side of the winner one bit. And I hear what you are saying about the money. But I don't have a problem with all of it, except the amount that goes to the winner (I think it was 2.1 million). Because all the sponsorship and HR and logistics money and stuff, boosts the economy. But for a person to get that kind of money just for hitting a ball around for a couple of weeks is insane. Although, it could be argued that she will then spend that money, hence boosting the economy. Either way, I think it is crazy that they get that amount of money for winning a tournament.

I dunno I'm kind of the opposite - the players 100% deserve every penny they get in my view. What I don't like is the great expense of many games and the hierarchy of moochers sat in governing and regulatory bodies of all sorts... the players might be 'overpaid' in the minds of some, but what about they people who pay their salaries? I don't agree that sport boosts the economy - the argument is the same as breaking glass windows to boost the economy. It creates work by draining other areas of the economy - not 'for free'. Anyway...

Possibly Australians do not appreciate a person who works within the rules to win a match like the semi-final
