I'm extremely liberal but I am a hardass when it comes to people here illegally. Duh there's this thing called the law, and the laws about coming here are not unjust, so Jim Wallis ought to be ashamed of himself for slapping in the face every person who waits in line and does it legally. But this is what you get when a big ego meets a self righteous sense of "morality."

Illegal not wanted period...go home stop and visit visa permit office come back when legal. Simple, take your kids and pets, relatives that are also illegal and scram, vamoose, adios, comprende.

Cost factor wise, areas with high numbers of illegal immigrants tend to cause a drain on resources. By resources I mean, medical, educational, and social. Many get paid under the table so they don't pay an income tax. They do pay state and local taxes when the purchase products in stores, but they're doging many of the other taxes that legal citizens have to pay. In the end it's better if they can become legal so the tax burden isn't pushed onto those who are paying their taxes legally. What generally happens is the tax base becomes dispropotionate. It's not noticible at first, but over time the tax burden begins to become to heavy for the regular tax payer. That can cause them to move out or move their buisnesses where the tax burdens are less.

Immigration is legal in the United States so long as you go through the process. If you are here illegally then find out how to become legal and make it happen. Otherwise go back where you came from and quit using the resources that my taxes are providing for legal citizens.

Every American was once an immigrant, and in my humble opinion its the diversity that makes this country so wonderful. If we made immigration legal, we wouldn't have illegal immigrants now would we?
