Resolved Question

Sorry I am new here (as of an hour ago!) I didn't realize when I selected an answer I would resolve my question, so I reposting it. Thanks for the answers so far.



We've had a wonderful relationship so far. Dated for three months and used to text and call everyday and see each other 2-4 times per week. He did tell me last week that he is getting deployed very soon; and that his schedule will be very crazy until then. But, he isn't even taking the the time to shoot me a one line text message. I hope I'm not overreacting, but he went from constant contact with me to none. He was also very excited about our plans (something he suggested we do), and was talking about it for a few weeks, then he broke our plans the day of.

Take his word for it. Preparation for a deployment is not only about getting gear ready, it's about mental preparation as well. I know that it sounds crazy because it is, he's probably agonizing over what to say and drinking (if he drinks) as that's probably the only freedom he has left, and sitting around with his buddies, not talking about a damn thing of importance trying to build up his psyche because these guys are the guys he's going with. He probably doesn't know what to feel or how to explain it. If you can be cool when he finally calls, he will feel the relief of not having to explain something that he can't explain anyway. I am a six time combat deployee and many times training. Give it a shot.
