Headset problems, help?

I bought a headset from razer, and i've had it for only a couple months, not even.. well its been working fine up until tonight, there is no damage on it.. but i'm not sure if its my mic or my computer..I use both a headset and mic jack that plugs into my pc... and no one can hear me when i try to talk into it.. so i've tried everything from restarting skype..to messing with options in the recording devices.. but the thing is.. no one can hear but when i play with the wire right at the jack and where it plugs into my laptop.. it makes a staticy noise.. could that mean my computers mic jack is messed up? if so does anyone know how much it costs to fix it?

my headset has done this before too. I just usually turn the computer off, take it out, blow on the plug-in end, stick it in, turn the computer back on and im done.

if that doesn't work, it's probably time to buy another headset.

No your computer jack is fine. check if you have the mic option muted? Click on the small speaker icon in the taskbar and verify that your mic option is enabled or not.

Now check into the control panel for a Red or yellow color speaker icon.. They're the additional settings button.. Try to calibrate your microphone from it if you've them in your control panel. If you're using windows 7 make sure you've all option visible in your control panel.
