Herniated disk?

went to the er with severe pain in my back with pain running down my right leg doc said i have a herniated disk I have no insurance and am unemployed and am scared what do i do? no doc will operate without insurance,HELP!!!!and they said i need surgery!

Let me guess, you are in America! Here is Aus we get stuff like that real cheap, even free! you poor thing!
Try lookin on the internet to see if its life threatening. Is it really expensive to get the surgery? if so, any way of gettin the money?

Had 3 herniated disc in lower back, also had leg pain it was pretty bad at first but once the swelling went down from the initial irritation I did much better. But all these things are different for everyone. Check with welfare offices, human services, places like that. If the doctor is saying you need surgery you may have a serious herniated disc. If you trust your doctor, have surgery if possible. If you just can't find any way, resting the effected area for at least 6 weeks, and do as maxxcrash said use exercise and stretching. I waited over 20 years to have surgery on mine, and surgery went well and I wish I would have had it done sooner. But I was scared to have it too soon also. Good luck with everything! Check out on the internet for exercises and stretching techniques specified for the realignment of the spine. There are rehab exercises designed for this specific problem.
