There are some rude and insensitive people on here. It is a product of the anonymity that the site offers. That same anonymity is what allows people to speak freely about all kinds of private things. If someone bothers you, go to their profile and look at the lower left. There are block and report buttons down there. You can also report questions or comments you feel are inappropriate if they are in the wrong section. Members police up as much as we can ourselves.Like (1)

Welcome to EP! Join groups, yes. But also read and respond to questions, read people's profiles when you are intrigued by their responses. Write them a direct message and keep the conversation going. You might see some groups on their profile you might associate with that way. Post in jokes if you like. Interact in whatever way you feel comfortable. You'll make friends in no time at all.
