I had a friend who was diagnosed with full-blown Aids. It was back 1989, when women were still not being diagnosed as early as men, and there was a huge stigma attached to having it. I remember walking with her just after she'd received the news. We'd been talking about it, and suddenly she said: "You know, I feel like I'm nothing but a big sack of disease". I felt terrible, and tried to tell her while she had the disease, the disease wasn't her. She didn't believe me, though; she had to come to that realization herself.
It took time, but she found support in friends, and family. She got involved in a local support group and met people who had Aids, and were coping with it. I think what happened is that she began to see her self reflected back from other's eyes, and finally believed in herself again.
Try avoiding negative people. Stick with the people who know you and accept you for who you are, not what kind of virus you have. I know you're not HIV pos, but the concept is the same. Seek positive outlooks to reinforce your positive image. It's still new for you right now, and devastating. You'll find your way. Don't reject the help of those who love you. And get some counseling.

How to feel satisfied, period? But, I am carrying a viral disease, I seem to have a sinusitis for the last six weeks since I quit smoking. It's going all over the place in me and the doctor said the bacterial cultures came up negative, so it's probably a virus. Most people (&plants &animals) are carrying a viral disease. Apparently it's part of life, unless and until we can evolve some mechanisms to defeat them. Flu hangs out in your cells, or warts, or a bunch of things, and when you get stressed, you get sick. I just learned chlamydia does the same sort of thing, which bothers me because the stray cats I feed have it on them, and I sure don't want to get that. In life, you take your satisfaction, your victories, where, and when, you can. Sometimes life is good, sometimes you win, enjoy it when it is, work around the rest. Same for everyone, more or less.
