Apparently, only one of us loved a lot for a year. I think, having survived a marriage, that I am much tougher than I once was and might laugh if you tripped and fell on your way out.

Not an easy thing to do to walk away if you truly love someone, and not an easy thing to accept if you are left behind wondering what happened.
It is extremely painful and punishing for both involved. I wouldn't recommend being on either end of that relationship.

I don't think that was loving at all, but I suppose I'd still feel terrible given all the time given to something just to see it vanish like a fart in the wind. I'd pray you fall into a ditch or something and break your ankle, at the very least.
