Hello...........first of all, you WILL cope. You may have some crying jags, some weird thoughts, and moods, until your brain gets into a new routine, and I have known people literally hooked on Effexor who can't get off it. Aways wondered why they couldn't, so asked one lady and she said it was because she felt very sick, flu like sick. Incapacitatingly so. I have taken Prestiq and a few others and never felt right on them, had a "time of it" getting off, but always made it. The big pharmacentical companies have a hold on us.......think about this........the meds are given to "correct" an imbalance in the brain, yet we are never checked for this imbalance, are we. Nope. Let alone what dose is the best for us. There are so many ways to cope with big depression, but I would have to know how big first. Just know that by all means you will cope when getting off this stuff and it's only the drug companies who don't want you to cope. Tell people around you if you work, that you are coming off a med and might have difficulty with some menial tasks, but don't tell clients, of course, besides they'll never notice anyway. We're all so self involved that we're lucky to actually see others at all. Just the fact that you asked the question, tells me that you are able to cope. NurseRNPA

I have never been on that drug. I have been medicated for years now for depression. I tried a couple of times to quit the drugs only to find myself near sucidal. I haven't gotten off since. I think if you find some sort of support system that will help you such as counseling and other programs that teach on attacking anxiety and depression that may help... I wish you well. I know this can be difficult.
