just call, and ask what the starting pay is, there is nothing wrong with calling and asking any question. show interest also

yes that is correct, but that seems to be the one question that may stop you from going, so in this case, you should ask. and i also personally never agreed with that "traditional, never ask what it pays" that list, and idea was thought up over 50 years ago. we live in different times now. By asking what the job pays today in this economy, it does not say have a negative effect. it only shows that this is also important to you.

True - but I dont think it helps you if you go through the process. No one is impressed by the fact that you ask that question because we have been conditioned to see it as inappropriate to ask up front. I will ask it anyway though
