If I remember correctly, there is a phrase that was coined to explain those times of day when cats go insane all over the house, it's called "FRAP Time" (Feline Recreation And Play Time)

All of my cats are strictly indoor cats, and I have found that they can be a bit crazier than ones I've had that have access to outdoors. I have found it is important, especially when they're young, to take time out and play with them. Just fifteen minutes twice a day is enough, just get their hearts racing and give them time to hunt and play.

Still, if your cat is young, it might just run around like nuts for a few years. My older cats did not really calm down that much until they were reaching their fourth birthdays. Sometimes it helps to leave treats in 'hidden' spots for them to find (as long as there is no threat of insect invasions), and to rotate their toys so there is always something new to play with. I use 'Cosmic Catnip" and rub some on their toys, they seem to like it.

Hope those ideas might help. And yes, if your male kitty isn't fixed, it's a good idea to get that done ASAP. Once they start maturing they start spraying, and once they start it's hard to get them to stop. Just be patient, he should start chilling out as he gets older, in the mean time, just make sure there are no priceless breakables on place he might leap on to in one of his crazy flights around the house, hehe.

Cats have an innate ability to know when you want them to come around and when you want them to leave you alone. When they see that you want them, they run and when they see you want them to leave you alone, they are all over you. What you need to do is act more like you want him to go away. Then, he will be right there in you lap. lol

Some cats just aren't lap cats. I have two cats and neither of them are the type to lay in my lap and let me pet them. I just let them be themselves. When they want to be petted, I pet them...if they want to run and play, I let them. My male cat is hyper and running all the time. I swear he's the Energizer Bunny of cats...lmao.

Get him to trust you, let him sniff your hand and speak to him gently. He's a wild kitty though, just love him for who he is. :)

Have you ever tried rescue remedy. It can help to calm down pets, with just a couple drops in their water.

Sometimes this can be considered a 'vacuum' behaviour of cats, especially if they are kept in doors. It means they do not get enough opportunity to do 'cat' behaviours that they would naturally do if they were allowed more freedom. Make sure your cat as enough play things including carpet castles they can climb up and down. Ensure his environment is stimulating enough for him, which includes you playing games with him.

Like people, cats have different personalities and energy levels.

Just watch your cat and his antics and get the enjoyment your looking for....by observing!

I have 2 cats, my Male cat acts Crazy just before a change in the weather. I can sometimes calm him down by playing with him, & massaging his body.

Allow him to live. He'll calm down eventually. He's just young and full of energy. Or feed him ground poppy pods. Or hit him with a hammer.

You know Levinkitty has a great suggestion of calming your cat down. Grab his tail and whirl him around, about times and then put him down and see him spin. If it doesn't work the first, try until you succeed. You are the owner and your cat is a pet.

You just have to outlast him. When he's old he will be at your mercy.

Cat's are easily overstimulated. They need a lot of space & like to be in charge of when & how mucch touching they get. He's saying back off.
