Write it anyway. Put two trash bins next to your desk, one for trash and one for the writings that you think are of poor quality. At the end of the month take the discarded writings and reread them. This has worked for me in the past, I usually find something of value that I didn't think was there when I through it out.

I really like that idea...the bad thing is i am very very VERY critical of all my work...most would probably end up in the trash can in a crumpled ball

Write in character. Pretend you are someone else when you are writing. Pick someone you would never be....and pretend you are her and SHE is trying to write.

Well I find that smoking a joint always gets the imaginative juices flowing. This is not for everyone of course. Just a suggestion.I usually get the urge to write stuff when I'm stoned. I start with one idea and before long I have multiple ideas fighting for space in my mind. If you feel too lazy to write when stoned then maybe use a recorder. You'll be amazed at the ideas that manifest themselves. :-)

No worries. It's not for everyone.Although you could always boil it, strain it and drink it as tea..... It tastes about as disgusting as any herbal tea.:-)

better to write nothing than to write crap... on the other hand, when some time has passed you can discover new sense in the things you've already written.. that's the irony of life. anyway, don't write if you don't feel like it. but if you write, write from the heart. don't leave something for later ("i will use that somewhere else") til that time comes, you'll surely have thousand other thoughts going on

all of that is very true...when I write i always write from my heart and soul...writing is what actually saved my life 3 years ago. so i always write best when i am over flowing with emotions

same here :) it's difficult for me to express my emotions and i've always found myself doing it through songs so i thought - why not writing my own? since then, i filled two A4 160sheet notebooks with songs and few poems also. even if it's no use for the world, it helps me to calm my mind and go back to reality when i sink too much into my dark thoughts.

Wish I knew the answer. I used to write lots - documentation at work ; articles for both our in-house and national football referee's magazines, short stories, etc. For the local mag, I could literally knock out an article of a required length (short, medium, long) at a moment's notice.

For some time now that skill has left me ; when I start in on a story I get so far, lose the plot and end up with a half-finished story that's no good to anyone !

You first of all have to quit trying so hard..........let your mind just relax...take a walk.........go shopping and just look at stuff.........plan a visit to a friend and take them out to eat.........

In other words, just GET AWAY from your usual routine.....

watch a favorite movie or TV show....

Go somewhere and just listen to people talking......

you NEVER KNOW when an idea will just POP into your head, and it WILL, because you took your mind off of writing!!!!!!!!

    Good luck!!!!

Take a walk... go for a drive... go camping. You need more life experience to work with.
