    You have to go to his level. I have friends just like you and your husband. She is a college educated lady and he is a regular guy that just managed to get a high school diploma. She has to remember that when she is talking and bring the conversation to his level. She also tries to introduce new words and phrases so he does learn them, but she does it so it's not a lesson.
