How can I write a story?

pick something you are pashionate about. you don't necessarly have to experieced it.

Begin anywhere. Stop when you feel satisfied. In between, put lots of details.

What I do get myself in the mood to write is listen to some inspiring music.. (usually nightwish/gregorian/within temptation) and start to daydream. What ever comes into my mind I write down. It might not make sense at first but the initial ideas are there. Then I look over what I've written, brainstorm around it, think about my characters (who are they, what do they stand for, what do they look like etc etc..) then I think about the overall picture of the story. What do I want to achieve? After I have done all of this, I sink back into the blaring music and let my mind wonder free and scribble away. I find writing by hand better, (not computer). I have an extremely vivid imagination..(sometimes people think I'm insane), and let the words come freely.

This is how I wrote my first manuscript and how I continue to write today.

Also, I people watch. I watch their movements, expressions, what they say, their reactions to diferent things. I could be at work toiling over a pot of bubbling gumbo and all of a sudden something hits me in the head and I immediatly write it down. Always have a pen and pad on hand.

Don't force it. Let it come naturally. Put in lots of detail, but not so much it seems like it's being too narrative. There's only so many ways you describe a sunset or the smell of grass, no what I mean?

But overall have fun! Writing is supposed to be fun. If you're not having a good time reading it, then no one else will.

Just start writing.

People don't really write many "stories" here on EP I have noticed... basically people just write what they are thinking or how they feel about something... just do it :-)

Just start I have to be in the mood unless Im feeling really creative. Go to the groups section if you dont want to create. I create too much sometimes-have fun!
