I created my own religion. When my (christian) worldview crashed and I saw how self-destructive it was, I decided that I needed another worldview, but one that would never let me down like the last one had. So I started educating myself (because my education left out so many important parts and lied about many others), I undertook study independently of anyone who would tell me what to think.

I found a book about the exciting things happening in science in the previous decade that had the potential to throw god out on its ear. I probed the science and actually forced myself to figure out some things that befuddled me. It turns out that those things befuddled me because my patterns of thought were making the elegant, twisted and deformed.

So I started studying my thoughts, feelings, and emotions and made some startling discoveries. All of this time, I was educating myself in many MANY different fields.

As I probed the science deeper, I would read a passage and hear Jesus' words layered over what I was reading. This kept happening and I thought it odd, except that the words were a parallel to the science. Then I discovered what is being called the quantum field or the unified field and my god-concept was complete.

So now I have a religion. Many others have found the same answers I have, and they too found it through independent study.

It is more true than existing religions that have zero evidence to support their claims. There is abundant evidence to support mine. Mine is not cruel and tyrannical like the Abrahamic gods. It cannot become a cult because that is antithetical to the premise of the religion.

So, I guess the answer is: educate yourself

Every religion was "just now being thought of" at the time it was created. That didn't stop El-Ron Hubbard, did it!?

"El-Ron" is the sci-fi nickname of one-time mediocre science fiction writer and founder of Scientology L. Ron Hubbard

Basically, Joseph Smith did, by convincing enough people of his "visions", including that of the angel Moroni directing him to golden plates of "old Christian" doctrine that he translated into the Book Of Mormon.

Judging by the number of "cults" that seem to be continually forming, it can't be that hard.

All religions are laced with lies designed to deceive unsuspecting souls and ignorant people endorse "religion" as if that's correct way to follow. If you list all the religions of the world you would have to include satanism for all require rituals and worship but true faith in the Holy Trinity of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son & Holy Spirit is not i repeat "Not Religion".

In plain English stay away from Religion.

By having a few odd ideas that don't 'gel' with society and also having a chronic delusion of grandeur as well as a touch of megalomania would help as well I suppose. It's when you start to preach that belief to other people that it can become tiresome.

Two of the latest, Scientology and Jediism, were invented in the 20th century. Both inventors relied on what they learned by reading up on established religions and then packaged theirs in ways that suited them.

If you are looking to get income out of the religion, the main keys are to make people feel as if they can not get along without your religion, a trustworthy back office, a good CPA and a good tax lawyer, and never lying to yourself about what you are doing.

Simple. State your beliefs, open up a store front religious center, declare it to be a non-profit organization and you're in business. You'll soon have plenty of followers.

Wright a crazy book whilst high on acid and somehow manage to bring together a large group of easily brainwashed delusional people, then tell them its all true story. I really cant see it working these days though seen as we now have strong scientific contradictory evidence against such stupid Thoughts.

It's been done repeatedly throughout history. Catholics were not in existance untill the 1400's, and King James ordered the transcription of the Bible.
Since then every religions has come from that. The Lutheran, Baptist, Episcopal, and even spun its way down to the 1800's with the Mormans.

In the State of California you can just claim to be a minister of your own religion and open a church.

Find something seemingly alien or different from general view and accuse it of all the problems faced by society or nation and portray it as evil and needs to be fought and eradicated and offer an alternate Good Guy as god and yourself as prophet, bingo U Have a Brand new religion. People need something to hate and to transfer all faults and evils to some non-existent being so that they can say DEVIL MADE ME DO IT

Of course! All religions are fictitious and are aimed at isolating groups and confirming social biases. Just look at the religions created in America. Southern Baptist Convention / Evangelicals, Mormonism, Scientology.

Superstitious, ignorant and fearful people are gullible to religious persuasion. Read "The True Believer" by Eric Hoffer. It is as true now as when it was written, probably more so now with a new age of ignorance possessing the United States.

If you mean religion as in a way of life and belief that is purely physical or psychological, that is one thing, but if someone invents a spiritual religion, that is wrong, as there is only one proper way of spiritual belief.
