How can women insist on being treated equally?

Women on average make consistently less money than men when working the same jobs. How can they be considered equal if they don't make as much as men in the workplace?

Do you make more money than Oprah? We only let you think you are superior due to your delicate egoes...we've kept it going fo a millenium....and as long as you keep believing it....we know we've won...you have to make more money because collectively you live shorter and have less time on earth...this is why we use you to build houses lift heavy stuff and reach the top shelf..tee hee hee....

Well who said they are earning less? May be some are not as ambitious as men as they have additonal responsibility of taking care of home ...but they are never short of quality and even they score a point higher than men because of better emotional stability and loyalty

I wasn't even gonna comment on this as so many others had already stated my opinion more eloquently than I ever could've....then I read the answer by sighhhh . OMG!!!!! Do you not think that it takes work and intelligence to raise children??? Methinks that maybe you still are a cave man!!!! How can you so denegrate the role of women? As if raising a family were an easy task!! I'd like to see you do both, work outside the home and raise a family at the same time and see how well you do balancing all of this responsibility. Granted , there are some men who take equal responsibility for the care and raising of their progeny, but most simply assume that it's the inherent duty of the mother and never even give it a second thought. We do the lion's share of the work to keep our families secure, our homes running smoothly and our relationships healthy. Add to this the necessity for most women to also work outside the home and I ask you to consider.....how are we not at least equal???

No one is better than me and no one is worse than me, I'm me and no one else. People of personality willingness and hard work should be the ones who excell, should not rely on gender to get ahead in life, thats BS.

The way I see it, men and women are not equal. Why? They aren't supposed to be. In prehistoric times, the only function of women was to give birth and raise children. The only function of men was to ****, gather food and water and protect the women and children etc. We as humans are still a very young species. We have not been civilized for very long at all. We are pretty much learned cavemen. Our bodies are still designed to do those same prehistoric functions. Now that the world is a much safer place for humans due to technology, men and women will most likely equal out in both physical strength and intelligence. Before we had guns and houses, humans didn't live long. The females were restricted to only raising children and nothing else while men were out working and providing. Because us men were doing all this thinking and working, we evolved to become smarter and stronger while females evolved skills to help them with their work. I'm not bragging or anything, I'm just stating facts. Now that women are out thinking and working, they too will evolve and become just as strong and smart as men.

I don't see how any man could insist on treating women any other way, given the fact that they are equal.

lol b/c we're not equal... which really isn't so bad.. I don't want to be drafted to Iraq or use unisex bathrooms and whatnot. All kinds of people are discriminated against for different things.. it's not just women.

Ah, I love the "it's not fair that women have to choose between being mothers and being businesswomen" argument. Because clearly in an un-sexist world, someone responsible for raising a human being from scratch should get 40 hours a week spare to follow a full-time dream career, and the person paying them for said career should be fine with letting them drop it at a moment's notice...

Women may have a lower average wage, but what do you think the corresponding gender gap is in time spent with one's children? The fact that most women prioritise childcare and most men prioritise career is equally unfair on the minority of each gender that breaks that mould. This is not sexism, this is the universal fact that being different is more difficult than being average.

Personally to sighhhh and sxdup.
I admire a woman more for raising a good family then one who earns a lot of money. even though they both are successful. But that's just me.

I think the question should be 'does a woman want to be equal to man'.
Now I think this will get things rolling.
because 'equal' means lots.
Here is some.
1. Having the same quantity, measure, or value as another.
2. Mathematics. Being the same or identical to in value.
3. Having the same privileges, status, or rights: equal before the law.
4. Being the same for all members of a group: gave every player an equal chance to win.
5. Having the requisite qualities, such as strength or ability, for a task or situation: "Elizabeth found herself quite equal to the scene" (Jane Austen).
6. Adequate in extent, amount, or degree.
7. Impartial; just; equitable.
8. Tranquil; equable.
9. Showing or having no variance in proportion, structure, or appearance.

Do woman want to look like man in number 9 for instance. to the some that do look like a man, talk like a man, walk like a man, congrats you are an equal.
