Easy. In conversation on a specific topic, ask him, "How does your wife/girlfriend feel about that?" or similar. When he says, "Oh, I'm not married/involved," you'll have your answer.

I don't ask if they are single. I ask if they are married.

check his ring finger and you will if he's engaged or married. ask everyone what's they're doing for the weekend and wait for his answer.

just say didnt you bring your girlfriend along and when he says no i havent got one you will know for sure!...

i usually just get it over and ask..if u show confidence when asking it's a very sexy thing..the wrost they can say is no..and if they do no worries..just simply say "next"!

Create a conversation in which the response would definitively indicate a 'partner'. As an example, 'What did you get your boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse for their Birthday this year?' That at least then gives you the chance to 'go around the table' and ask for a response from everyone. You then can indicate your availability by saying "I'm just curious because my sister/brother is looking for ideas and since I'm single I didn't have a good example to give her/him."
