Resolved Question

How can you get over a crush?

At least I think it's a crush.

It's my Dad's buddy (younger) who lives next door to my dad and they are great friends but I digress.
Anyway ever since I first met him about 8 years ago I have had really strong feelings for him (Might be in my mind). I can seem to manage to put these feelings aside normally but seeing him at my step-sister's wedding sorta made these feelings stronger. To make matters worse I don't think he sees me that way. How do I stop these feelings? Are they just in my mind?

Please help me!

Assuming that both of you are single or divorced, I would invite him over for a cup of coffee the next time you're at your Dad's house.

While being the friendly neighbor, you'll have the opportunity to get to know each other better.

why can't you date him? age difference? one of you is married? if nothing stands in the way of you dating, then what's wrong with the crush?

and actually, nothing is wrong with a crush even if you can't date. as long as you don't act on it or as long as you don't let it hold you back from dating other people.

feelings are feelings...

You just need to deal with them and let time take those feelings away. I used to go through that alot in high school and that was the best way to deal with it. You could try seeking for other men to distract you from him until you get a new crush.

if you're both single, why not go for it, instead of worrying about it?

Before you give up.. ask him out.. if he says no then the key to getting over a crush is first deciding that you want to get over it.. if you ask him out and he says no or that he doesn't feel that way about you then it will be much easier to get over it. Perhaps he is not looking at you "like that" because he is respecting your father and their friendship.. have you asked your dad what his opinion of this is? At the very least.. make the first move and see where it takes you.
