Reports of children's "innocence" are greatly exaggerated. Innocence consists not in an incapacity for cruelty and malevolence but an attitude toward cruelty and malevolence - in a word, thoughtlessness.

I'd like to quote from Dostoevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov":

"Boys, while still almost children, pure in mind and heart, very often like to talk in classes among themselves and even aloud about such things, pictures and images, as even soldiers would not speak of; moreover, many things that soldiers themselves do not know or understand are already familiar to still quite young children of our educated and higher society. There is, perhaps, no moral depravity yet, and no cynicism either of a real, depraved, inner sort, but there is external cynicism, and this is not infrequently regarded among them as something refined, subtle, daring, and worthy of emulation."

Point is, kids are already jerks. Some improve, some don't.

Because men "their fathers" are jerks and are not able to take the responsibility.

No because they're fathers are working 40-60 hour weeks to support the family.

It is part of the growth process. Little girls do that too. Something happens in the teenage years and hopefully they get it worked out sometime in their 20s and 30s. Little boys become jerks and little girls become *******. If they get a grip on themselves and stop blaming others for struggles in growing then they become gentlemen and ladies.

Obviously some of them stay very nice. I think male teenagers may get carried away by the feeling of freedom, sometimes impunity, that manhood may entail. It may bring out the best and/or the worst in them.

I have heard guys ask the same thing about girls. Maybe it's just a lack of understanding.

I think most learn behaviors from their parents/father.
I don't feel every man is a jerk. I feel they are taught to act a certain way and react a certain way.
I love men...no matter how some have hurt me...

Actually studies show that boys take most of their values from their mother.
