    They apply to different types of things. Patents are for inventions. Copyright law is for books, songs, etc. There are also trademark rights that are for trademarks.

    Copyrights are for written or verbal things, such as books or sayings. Patents are for designs (like inventions).

    Copyrights give you money from others using the idea. Patents gives countries a right to use them
