MMJ is good for lots of t hings, but not depression. Trust me, it will only make you more depressed.
In Colorado, technically, you can't get a medical marijuana card for any psychiatric disorder (they're simply not on the list of approved conditions) but people manage. Lots of bipolar people use it "off -label" as a mood stabilizer, and I have one friend whose doc wrote her a recommendation for anxiety.

this site has some good information on details:
http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000881
It has covered medical conditions, legal amounts and cultivation of plant information.
There has been evidence that smoking marijuana can have a positive effect on disorders such as Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or depression but also negative results from studies on it too.
in your situation marijuana is more likely to do harm than good. if you have tried many different medications with no success, it may be time to try something different, like TMS or ECT. marijuana, if it helps at all, will only make you feel better for a couple of hours. then it's right back to where you were, if not farther down.

tms is transcranial magnetic stimulation. ect is electroconvulsive therapy. both use magnets or electricity to stimulate the brain to promote healthier mood balance. i have not done tms, but ect has serious side effects and is usually used as a last-resort treatment.
